Creating Mindful Families

Creating a mindful family requires an intentional effort. It can also prove to be an incredibly joyful experience that not only builds connection but has positive impacts on kid’s academic performance, stress levels, and emotional maturity.

Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally.

Mindfulness practice can begin at any age. Through mindfulness we learn to be less reactive and more intentional in our words and actions. We build emotion awareness and emotional intelligence. It allows us to live, love, and parent more authentically as we learn to be present with all that life brings our way – be it joy or pain, love or loss, stillness or chaos.

Starting a mindfulness practice can seem daunting, especially as a family unit. Perhaps we feel our lives are too busy or it’s too late in the game. However, incorporating mindfulness into our lives can be simple and fun. Participants will learn basic mindfulness neuroscience, the latest research, and family-friendly mindfulness practices. The workshop will include lecture, hands-on activities, group discussions, and mindful awareness practices. The goal is to empower participants with the what, why, and how of mindfulness allowing families to create their own practices. This workshop experience is for adults only. The Mindfulness for Kids workshop series welcomes children to attend.
